Privacy Policy

Effective September 28, 2026

Westpark (“the Service”) is operated by Westpark LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We believe in plain English: no legal tricks, no surprises.

1. What We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • First name (required)
  • Email address (required)

If you answer “How full is it?” about a lot, we keep:

  • The lot and your answer (Lots of room, A few spots or Full)
  • The time
  • The weather, events, weather alerts, any town parking ban and the school calendar at that time (public data, not from your device)
  • A random ID from a cookie on your device

We don’t collect your location. If you create an account or sign in, your answers from that browser are linked to your account so they earn points. Otherwise they’re linked only to the random ID.

If you sent a parking report in an earlier version of Westpark, we kept:

  • Lot ID and condition (open, filling, or full)
  • Optional comment text (up to 100 characters)
  • Timestamp, day, and hour of the report
  • Current weather conditions (from Open-Meteo, not from your device)
  • Active community events (from Trumba public calendar)
  • School calendar status (public data)

When you use the destination search, we collect:

  • The destination text you typed
  • The recommendation we generated

Accounts from earlier versions also hold a points balance, report count, referral activity, and credibility score. Westpark no longer shows them.

2. How We Use It

We use your data to:

  • Run your account, if you have one
  • Send you sign-in links and account emails
  • Check and improve our parking predictions
  • Keep the service safe, for example by limiting how many requests one person can make

We don’t sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. How We Store It

Your data is stored in a Turso database (libsql), a hosted SQLite-compatible database service. The database is encrypted at rest and in transit. Access is restricted to application-level credentials only.

Signing in uses a cookie, described in section 7.

4. Who We Share It With

We share data only with the following service providers, strictly for operational purposes:

  • Vercel hosts the site and runs our analytics. It handles your IP address to serve pages and to block abuse.
  • Resend sends our sign-in and account emails. It receives your email address.
  • Anthropic answers destination searches. It receives the text you typed, how long you said you’re staying, and our lot data. It doesn’t receive your email or account.
  • Google Maps finds the place you searched for. It receives the text you typed plus “Westport CT.” It doesn’t receive your email or account.

We don’t sell or trade your personal information. We don’t use advertising trackers or social media tracking scripts.

5. Data Retention

We keep your account details and your reports until you ask us to delete them. Searches aren’t linked to your account, and we keep them to improve search. We keep answers to “How full is it?” to check and improve the estimates, and to count your points if you have an account.

Sign-in links work once and expire after 15 minutes.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Withdraw consent for email communications at any time

7. Cookies, Analytics & Local Storage

Westpark sets a sign-in cookie only when you sign in. It keeps you signed in for 90 days, or until you sign out. A second small cookie lasts just as long and only tells the page you’re signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

If you answer “How full is it?”, Westpark sets a cookie holding a random ID for one year. It holds nothing else, and it limits how often one device can answer.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.

Your browser’s local storage remembers how long you usually stay, so the page can ask with your last answer picked. It stays on your device. When you tap Directions, it also remembers that lot for 45 minutes, so the page can ask how full it was. Then it’s deleted. It also remembers whether you’ve answered before, and, if you’re signed in, when you last saw your points. Earlier versions kept your first name and points there. Westpark deletes those the next time you open it.

8. Children’s Privacy

Westpark is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. We will note the effective date at the top of this page.
